My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard…and by boys, I mean vegans of any gender who love dessert.
I had so much fun testing this recipe and that is in large part due to New Barn’s Organic Banana & Chocolate Chip Almondcreme aka best vegan ice cream ever. This flavor is by far my favorite (the chocolate flavor is also vegan!) and I just knew that I had to create a milkshake to feature this bad boy. Of course I can’t just enjoy a milkshake without adding some kind of superfood so I added in matcha to give this drink an energy boost and antioxidant punch. (It’s also TOTALLY okay if you want to enjoy this milkshake without the matcha. Ice cream is a superfood for the soul, right?)
You guys know I am obsessed with all things New Barn so I also used New Barn’s Organic Unsweetened Almondmilk as the liquid in this milkshake. I chose the unsweetened version since for me, the ice cream has enough sweetness on it’s own (organic bananas and organic cane sugar). Organic vegan ice cream + organic almondmilk = double the organic deliciousness, minus the added gums and artificial flavors. Thank you New Barn for offering non-dairy options that are not loaded with crap!
This milkshake is creamy, thick, and has hints of both vanilla and chocolate. Plus it provides an earthy flavor and caffeine boost from the matcha that will keep you energized (unlike most milkshakes). You’ll want to keep this recipe handy, I promise.
BANANA MATCHA MILKSHAKE
Serves 1 | Takes <5 min
INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup New Barn Organic Unsweetened Almondmilk
1 1/2 tsp matcha or green tea powder (organic if possible)
1 cup New Barn Organic Banana & Chocolate Chip Almondcreme
1 tsp vanilla extract (organic if possible)
banana slices for garnish (optional)
DIRECTIONS:
Combine almondmilk and matcha in blender. Blend on high for about 30 seconds or until no clumps of matcha remain.
Add 3 shameless scoops (about 1 cup) of Almondcreme ice cream to the blender, along with the vanilla extract. Feel free to adjust the amount of ice cream you use depending on your preferred thickness.
Begin blending on low and gradually increase speed. Once you are blending on high, blend for about 15-30 seconds. Be careful not to overblend here or the ice cream will start to warm up and thin out!
Garnish with some slices of banana if desired. (I use frozen slices to keep things extra cold.)
That’s it! Slurp and enjoy.
